A Magnificent Mashup

Adjectives get abused by bloggers on a daily basis. However, from time to time you see something that just makes you stop for a moment and think - this is going to have a major impact on our industry….

1. Splendid in appearance; grand: a magnificent palace.

2. Grand or noble in thought or deed; exalted.

3. Outstanding of its kind; superlative: a magnificent place for sailing.

While the webmaster on Swisstrains.ch declares that the site is still in alpha. The functionality is just magnificent.

Welcome! For all of you visiting this website: this site is still in ALPHA-phase. You’re not supposed to see it But as some bloggers already wrote about it, we decided to keep it open. In a couple of weeks time, we’ll add more info here, and more functionality. For now, we keep on developing.
In the meantime, please help us solving our list of bugs by mailing me (This site is not affiliated to the official sbb.ch website)

For those of you who believe that maps are central to where our industry is going, you need to check this site out. I would love to hear your thoughts. I know there have being a few similar efforts such as dartmaps but this is the best map mashup I have seen.

I am due to call Douglas Hart at myguideScotland this morning, to talk about our upcoming website for Scotland. I suspect that he is going to want this type of functionality - yesterday. He may just have to drink one of Scotland’s national drinks while he is waiting.
